Obituary: Becky Piper

November 4, 1950 – May 18, 2024

Becky Piper went home to Jesus on May 18, 2024 after a long and valiant fight with cancer. While we are mourning her loss we are also celebrating that she is free from the battle and home with her Savior.
Becky Jo Mead was born to Norman and Mary Jane Mead in Rifle, CO November 4, 1950. Becky was the third of seven children and enjoyed life on their ranch on Taghenbaugh Mesa. She worked and volunteered at many places in Rifle when she was young and attended the Rifle Schools. She met her life long love Duane Piper in High School and they were married June 1, 1969; celebrating nearly 55 years together. Becky dedicated her life to her family and raising her three children, caring for all her nieces and nephews as well as some of their friends. She was the best mom and Aunt. Becky was an active member at The First Christian Church for most of her life and enjoyed singing and teaching. Work life was spent running several businesses with her husband Duane as well as working at Walmart for several years. Her true passion was helping children though and she work in the school district as a para professional for special needs children. Her love for children made her a beloved mentor and friend to every child she encountered. Becky is preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Mary Jane as well as brothers Loren and David Mead. She is survived by her husband, Duane Piper, three children Suzanne (John) Trent, Melissa (Leland) McMinn, and Kenneth (Chyna) Piper all of Rifle. Her sisters Linda Harmon, Debra Grizzle, Beth Brock, sister in law Pam Mead and her brother Ron (Vicki) Mead along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her favorite title was Grandma and she enjoyed her 11 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren the most.
A celebration of Becky’s life will be held July 6th at 1pm at New Life Fellowship Church 2090 White River Ave.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations of backpacks and school supplies that will be donated in her name.
