September 27, 1925 – October 4, 2024

With sorrow and celebration of life we report the passing of Betty Redmond, 99, moving on to that Great Sewing Room in the Sky. Born September 27, 1925 in Mitchell, NE to John and Olive Bright, she was raised on the family farm and graduated from Liberty Rural High School in 1943. Born with an adventurous spirit and a much talked about independent streak, Betty relocated to Washington, DC and then Denver, where as a young woman, she enjoyed the opportunity to work and play in the big city environment. On a return visit to Snowmass she was charmed and lassoed by a local rancher, Orville Redmond. They married in 1952 and started a family on Orville’s ranch before moving into town and raising their family of five in Basalt. The couple relocated to Grand Junction in 1997. She will be remembered as a loving Mother and Grandmother, a talented quilter, sewist, cook, and the very best cookie baker. Betty’s independence, generosity, and artistic skills will not be soon forgotten. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Orville, and her son, Gary. She is survived by her daughters Debbie (Bill) Kelly, Dede (Vernon) Snead, Linda (Randy) VanGaasbeek, and Karen (Herb) Call. She was blessed with eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A private family service is being held at Callahan-Edfast.
