Joann E. Andre, 91, a gem amongst the shadows in a world that needs more love, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025, in Rifle, Colorado.
Born on March 11, 1934, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Joann was raised with Southern charm and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Duke University. She married James L. Andre, Denver, CO in 1959. They moved to Glenwood Springs in 1965 where they owned and operated Andres’ Pizzeria & Ristorante, Andre’s Aviation and Somethin’ Sweet Candy Plus. Joann and Jim remained life-long companions and business partners for 52 years until Jim’s death in 2011. Joann remained active in the family business until 2018.
Their children include son, Tim Andre (Tina), daughter Tami Slater (Keith), cherished grandchildren Rusty Slater, Christi Slater, and James Andre (Kelsey) as well as great-grandchildren, Aubrey Lechuga, Elsie Joann Slater and Aidan Slater. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, LaVica Andre, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
A private graveside farewell celebration will be held at her final resting place, Rosebud Cemetery, Glenwood Springs, CO.
