Fern H. Brethower, age 98, passed away on April 27, 2017, in the loving care of the staff at E. Dene Moore Care Center, Rifle, CO. Outdoor family services will be in July.
Fern was born in Bertrand, NE, on 2/27/1919 to W.O. Hosick and Ada Callister.
She married Warren Brethower in 1941 at Curtis, NE. He preceded her in death.
Three daughters survive. Monty Rhodes, Battlement Mesa, CO, Eloyce Brethower, Petaluma, CA, and Joyce Trivieri, Aurora, CO. Also 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren called her Grandma Fern.
Fern and Warren lived over 45 years in the Roaring Fork Valley before retiring to Grand Junction. In the 1950s, Fern was the first librarian for the City of Glenwood helping gather, organize and catalog books. She loved reading and was an expert seamstress and gardener.
