Patricia Dowd, 82, of Las Vegas, Nevada, departed this life November 18, 2016. Pat was born to Carl & Mildred Sandberg on May 28, 1934, while visiting her grandmother McCormick's home in Johnson County, Kansas.

She lived in Clark, Co., on the family homestead until the age of six. She became a resident of Denver, CO, where her father was a cattle buyer/seller. She attended school at Elyria, Swansee, Cole & Manuel.

Pat was a member of the civil air patrol & learned to fly before the age of 16. She played the steel guitar in several teen bands & became a silversmith where she proudly made a world champion buckle.

Pat married Thomas Dowd in 1951. She then became the first woman mail carrier in Golden, Co., not an easy task in those days.

Pat and Tom relocated to Glenwood Springs, Co., in 1970 to live closer to her family. She worked at Valley View Hospital, before purchasing and operating the Silt Bar & Café for many years. Pat & Tom traveled, before retiring in Las Vegas, NV.

She will be long remembered for her great sense of humor and sharp wit. She loved intelligent conversation, was open minded (except politics), an avid reader, loved music and an exceptionally loving and devoted grandmother, who always knew best. Oh! Did I mention she loved to hum and gamble? God bless our shining bright light, who is now eternally humming and gambling to her hearts content. Our hearts are broken, although full of loving memories.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Betty Sandberg & Lucinda Morrow; Husband Thomas Dowd; Son Stephan Dowd; Son-in-law Donald Shuster & daughter-in-law Linda Dowd. Surviving children James (Cathy) Dowd of Parachute, Co, Karen (Dean) Donelson of Silt, Co, Stephanie Wight of Grand Junction, Co, and Thomas "Tony" (Patty) Dowd of Arvada, Co.; 13 Grandchildren; 35 Great-Grandchildren; & 8 Great-Great-Grandchildren; Sister Carolyn Collins of Chino Valley, Az.; Uncle James McCormick of Albuquerque, Nm.; Sisters-in-law Becky (John ) Davis of Denver, Co, Iona Oldenburg of Commerce City, Co.; Special to her Brent Rice of Whitewater, Co, Diana Patch, Kalispell, Mt.; & many special cousins, nieces & nephews.

Pat's friends are welcome to join the family at a Celebration of life, held at 11:00 Am on May 28th at Donelson Ranch, 4778 County Road 331, Silt, Co.
