Gloria June Buchheister passed away peacefully on August 16, 2016, in Rifle, Colorado. Gloria was born to June and Sylvan Morgan on February 20, 1938, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She grew up the oldest of five children in Prineville, OR.
Gloria met Max Buchheister, her husband of 56 years, at an ice cream stand in Prineville and was married three months later. After moving around the western United States following Max’s work the family arrived in Rifle in 1964 raising four children.
Gloria enjoyed many arts and crafts, with her greatest joy being a seamstress making many beautiful quilts for friends and family. She also was an avid gardener, spending much of the summer outdoors in her vegetable and flower gardens.
Gloria and Max were very strong in their Latter Day Saint faith volunteering their time and efforts to the church. They were joined together in marriage in the LDS temple and had an unshakable testimony to the church and God.
Gloria is preceded in death by husband Max, her parents and brother Duane. She is survived by children Cheryl Jensen, Mark Buchheister, Larry Buchheister and Jay Buchheister. She is also survived by her three grandchildren Dharma Jensen, Andrea Jensen and Sydney Buchheister plus four great-grandchildren Guidance Johnson, Max Johnson, Tabitha Johnson, and Vivian Gray. In addition Gloria is survived by siblings Marion Berg, John Morgan and Sally Altig and their families.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 22 at the LDS church in Rifle at 2:00 p.m. followed by a graveside service at the Rifle cemetery.
